Behind the Scenes of a DIY Wedding…

It may have been a year in the making, but I can tell you not a moment was spared.  From endless pinteresting/brainstorming, to bringing the ideas to life… hours were dedicated to turning my Pinterest dreams into a reality for our special day.

Signage
Inspired by signs like this, my husband cut these arrows
for me out of planks of wood.  I then stained each,
decided which way each needed to point,
then painted lettering on each with white paint pens!

I couldn't resist the idea of adding different designs of gold arrows
to each for an added fun touch.

Programs
I really wanted paper programs, because I hoped to add them to my
scrapbook pages of our wedding… But I was not about to pay someone
another couple hundred dollars for more stationary, so I downloaded
some cute fonts online, designed my own template on the computer, and
printed them on pale peach shimmery paper I ordered from cardsandpockets.com
One of my bridesmaids and I tied countless burlap bows, and glued
one to each of them.

"Our Love Story on a Pallet"
I wanted to create our love story to display somewhere during cocktail hour,
but I wanted to do it in a fun way.  I decided to use an old pallet, and hang hearts with
each part of our story on it, surrounded by pictures.  On each bar of the pallet, I put the date
associated with each step of our story, until the final one, where I painted the word
"HITCHED" across it underneath our wedding date.

but Ours in my Favorite."}

 "Special Thank You"
We created a wall with a separate collage for each person in the wedding party, then hung a sign saying "special thanks" above it and had it displayed by the programs before the ceremony.

The Ring Bearer's "pocket watch" design ring carrier
I found this cute pill case stocking stuffer from Pottery Barn after the holidays, and my mom glued velvet into it, and sewed a ribbon to the center to tie the rings down with.  Then, she attached a chain and clip to it so that the ring bearer could hook the case to his suspenders for security, then put it in his pocket.

On the bottom of my shoes… pearl "I Do"
The DIY Photo Booth
We set up a backdrop, and props with our Eos Digital Camera and a remote for guests to have fun with  at their leisure during the reception.  It was a success, and the results were some epic photos!

Handmade Arbor
My husband worked hard to make the arbor we said our vows under.  We found the two front pillars from a local antique stop.  Then he designed the rest on his own and put it together in time for the big day!  Now, we can have our wedding arbor in our garden for the rest of our lives.

Overall, it was a great celebration, an amazing day and I wouldn't change a thing!
